Leanne, Administration
Hi there, my name is Leanne and I have been with Dr. Hovious and her excellent team since 2012. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from MTSU. I taught in the Shelby and Knox County School systems for 7 years before I had the privilege to be a stay-at-home mom.
Returning to the work force can be stressful, but I have been blessed beyond measure with such supportive and wonderful co-workers. As an educator, I love learning, and every day is filled with gathering knowledge on how to support patients with unparalleled care. This is an amazing place!
I also have three marvelous men in my life...my husband of 21 years (college sweethearts) and our boys (both of whom keep us very busy following all of their activities).

Valerie, RDH
Hello, I'm Valerie. I have been employed with Dr. Hovious since November 1994. I graduated from Whitley County High School in Williamsburg, Kentucky in 1983. In 1984, I became an orthodontic assistant and in 1985 entered dental hygiene school at Western
Kentucky University, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1987.
I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Louisiana to live with my husband who was active duty in the U.S. Army. After receiving my state license to practice dental hygiene in Louisiana, I worked full time in a periodontal practice from July 1989 to April 1993 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. My husband was transferred to Fort Hood, Texas, and I practiced there as well.
I thoroughly enjoy working with Dr. Hovious and the team in her practice. We are a family and we all work well together to help patients achieve their dental goals.
What I enjoy best about dentistry is being able to educate patients about caring for their teeth, gums, and dental implants. Seeing improvements with patient's oral care is very gratifying and being able to help people keep their teeth strong and stable long term makes every day rewarding.

Gina, RDA
Hello, I’m Gina. I have been with Dr. Hovious since 2011. Working with Dr. Hovious has been a true blessing. She cares for her employees as if they are part of her family and I am thrilled to be working with such an awesome team!
I am a Knoxville native and have been married for over 20 years. I enjoy hiking, traveling, family time with my husband and our many furry kids. I’m a frequent volunteer for Ijams Nature Center but my true passion is that of a coffee connoisseur.
I am a registered dental assistant and have had the privilege of working in dentistry since 2000. I’ve learned the importance of listening to our patients, educating them and helping them obtain their dental health. I enjoy the field of dentistry and appreciate the benefits of a healthy mouth and the beauty of a nice smile.

Mona, RDA
Hello, I am Mona. I began working for Dr. Hovious in 1998. I originally applied for a position in the front office but after talking with Dr. Hovious, she invested in my education and training and I became a Registered Dental Assistant. I received my dental assistant training through Tri-County Dental Society, which included instruction in operative dentistry and radiography. I also received training of clinical skills and knowledge personally from Dr. Hovious. While working with Dr. Hovious, I have had the opportunity to continue my education through many educational courses. It's very important for her and her team members to keep up with the most current dental technology and ideas to better serve our patients.
I have lived in Knoxville since 1996. I'm originally from Abingdon, Virginia. I have two sons and a daughter, and have two grandchildren, Ella (age 5) and Avery (age 4).
As a dental assistant, I want to be sensitive to our patient's needs and fears. I realize that coming to the dentist's office is not always something to look forward to. I do know I would like to help make that experience more comfortable and help relieve some of their fears. We always want to listen to what our patients desire and assist them in obtaining their dental health. Our patients may not realize that while we are providing a service for them, they are touching and affecting our lives in personal ways also. I will always treat our patients as l expect to be treated as a patient and provide quality care with a personal touch of caring.
