Dr. Lee Ann Hovious
Hi! I am Dr. Lee Ann Hovious and I want to welcome you to my practice. I grew up in Madisonville, Kentucky, a small town in the western part of the state and I felt it was an excellent place to grow up. My family was very active in the community with school activities, community service as well as church functions. I was raised and taught to be helpful to others and to treat all mankind equal.
When I was 16-years old, I began working for a dentist in my hometown after school hours and in the summer, I loved it. I enjoyed the interaction with the patients and helping them achieve their dental goals. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Kentucky. My parents graduated from UK, so I felt I would follow in their footsteps and I attended the University of Kentucky Dental Hygiene program. Upon completion, I practiced dental hygiene in private practice and also continued my education with a full-time pre-dental curriculum. Additionally, I taught at the University of Kentucky Dental Hygiene school part-time and I really enjoyed the teaching aspect.
With a dental hygiene background, and a love for periodontics (the field dealing with the health of gums and bone around the teeth), I went on to complete Dental School at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and Periodontal program at the University of Tennessee in Memphis for my post doctoral residency.
Upon completion of my periodontal program I started my practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, with two locations to conveniently serve Knoxville and the surrounding areas.
My goal with serving our patients is to treat them with dignity and respect. Educating patients regarding their homecare and delivering a high quality of dentistry has always been important to me.
There are two things I love the most about the Knoxville area, the people and the beauty of the area. My husband and I, with our two children, enjoy this area and all of the outdoor activities available such as swimming, hiking and spending time with family and friends.
Professionally, I am an active member of the Second District Association, Tennessee Dental Association, American Dental Association and the Academy of Periodontology. I am Board Certified-Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which is the most advanced education and training that can be acquired in my profession. I have completed a one-year preceptorship in dental implants at the Health Science Center at the University of Texas, San Antonio, and received my fellowship at the Misch International Implant Institute in dental implants – one of the top training facilities for dental implantology internationally. In addition, I am involved in community service such as student internship programs, volunteer for “Give Kids A Smile,” and treat Interfaith Health Clinic patients.
I am avid student, as one can tell and continuing education helps me keep up with the rapid changes of the dental profession to provide my patients with the best knowledge and the latest technology and techniques that modern dentistry has to offer. In 2008 I was excited to start a local study club, the Oral Design & Implant Study Club, which is an affiliate of the prestigiously known Seattle Study Club. I was honored to be nominated in 2012 for the Tennessee Dentist of the Year and to be nominated and inducted into the honorary dental organizations: The International College of Dentistry, The American College of Dentistry and The Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Hi there, my name is Leanne and I have been with Dr. Hovious and her excellent team since 2012. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from MTSU. I taught in the Shelby and Knox County School systems for 7 years before I had the privilege to be a stay-at-home mom.
Returning to the work force can be stressful, but I have been blessed beyond measure with such supportive and wonderful co-workers. As an educator, I love learning, and every day is filled with gathering knowledge on how to support patients with unparalleled care. This is an amazing place!
I also have three marvelous men in my life...my husband of 21 years (college sweethearts) and our boys (both of whom keep us very busy following all of their activities).
Hello, I’m Gina. I have been with Dr. Hovious since 2011. Working with Dr. Hovious has been a true blessing. She cares for her employees as if they are part of her family and I am thrilled to be working with such an awesome team!
I am a Knoxville native and have been married for over 20 years. I enjoy hiking, traveling, family time with my husband and our many furry kids. I’m a frequent volunteer for Ijams Nature Center but my true passion is that of a coffee connoisseur.
I am a registered dental assistant and have had the privilege of working in dentistry since 2000. I’ve learned the importance of listening to our patients, educating them and helping them obtain their dental health. I enjoy the field of dentistry and appreciate the benefits of a healthy mouth and the beauty of a nice smile.
Hello, my name is Angie and I have been employed for Dr. Hovious since February 2004. I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and graduated from Central High School. For the past several years, I have had the privilege of working in environments where people were the most important aspect. This is what I enjoy the most, helping others. Working with Dr. Hovious and the team is a very positive environment that allows me to project that attitude toward our patients and assist them in many different areas. As an assistant and marketing coordinator, I get to be involved with every aspect of our patient care. It is my goal to create the best experience for patients and help them achieve their long-term dental goals.
I have one daughter and she keeps me on my toes and takes every bit of my free time with pleasure. I also enjoy softball, fishing, cooking and just being with my little angel.
Hello, I'm Valerie. I have been employed with Dr. Hovious since November 1994. I graduated from Whitley County High School in Williamsburg, Kentucky in 1983. In 1984, I became an orthodontic assistant and in 1985 entered dental hygiene school at Western
Kentucky University, graduating with an Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene in 1987.
I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Louisiana to live with my husband who was active duty in the U.S. Army. After receiving my state license to practice dental hygiene in Louisiana, I worked full time in a periodontal practice from July 1989 to April 1993 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. My husband was transferred to Fort Hood, Texas, and I practiced there as well.
I thoroughly enjoy working with Dr. Hovious and the team in her practice. We are a family and we all work well together to help patients achieve their dental goals.
What I enjoy best about dentistry is being able to educate patients about caring for their teeth, gums, and dental implants. Seeing improvements with patient's oral care is very gratifying and being able to help people keep their teeth strong and stable long term makes every day rewarding.
Hello, I am Mona. I began working for Dr. Hovious in 1998. I originally applied for a position in the front office but after talking with Dr. Hovious, she invested in my education and training and I became a Registered Dental Assistant. I received my dental assistant training through Tri-County Dental Society, which included instruction in operative dentistry and radiography. I also received training of clinical skills and knowledge personally from Dr. Hovious. While working with Dr. Hovious, I have had the opportunity to continue my education through many educational courses. It's very important for her and her team members to keep up with the most current dental technology and ideas to better serve our patients.
I have lived in Knoxville since 1996. I'm originally from Abingdon, Virginia. I have two sons and a daughter, and have two grandchildren, Ella (age 5) and Avery (age 4).
As a dental assistant, I want to be sensitive to our patient's needs and fears. I realize that coming to the dentist's office is not always something to look forward to. I do know I would like to help make that experience more comfortable and help relieve some of their fears. We always want to listen to what our patients desire and assist them in obtaining their dental health. Our patients may not realize that while we are providing a service for them, they are touching and affecting our lives in personal ways also. I will always treat our patients as l expect to be treated as a patient and provide quality care with a personal touch of caring.
