Computer Assisted Dental Injection

A Computer Assisted Dental Injection called “The Wand”, allows Dr. Hovious to deliver a virtually pain free shot to help alleviate your discomfort. With the wand, we are able to control the flow of the anesthesia to allow optimal comfort. With this latest technology, our patients find that this numbing experience reduces stress with their treatment, which is always a plus!

Digital X-Rays

Traditionally, dentists used x-rays to find out what is going on below the surface, developing them in a darkroom full of chemicals, and examining the resulting films on a special light board.

Digital Radiology entirely outmodes that cumbersome process. Now, a tiny sensor placed in the mouth acts like a miniature camera with an x-ray sensitive chip, exposing you to 50 – 90% less radiation exposure than with traditional x-ray techniques. The resulting highly detailed image of your mouth is almost instantaneously translated to our computer, carrying with it all the conveniences of other digitized images. We can rotate it, magnify it, adjust for contrast and even color-code for educational purposes. Because it helps our patients clearly understand the root issues behind their dental healthy, we are able to work together to determine the very best treatment options for each case.

Intra-Oral Cameras

A picture is worth a thousand words. With digitized photography using magnifying lenses, we can photograph pictures of the inside of your mouth and see beyond the actual size for your viewing. Not only does this make it simple to see and understand what the doctor is explaining to you, but it also makes it simple for us to keep incredibly accurate records from one visit to the next.

3D Imaging

Available in the practice is the highly detailed 3D Imaging using a Cone Beam Computerized Tomography (CBCT Scan). This provides a quicker and more accurate diagnosis, improved treatment planning and thorough patient care. The beauty of this technology is it provides significantly less x-ray exposure verses a medical CT scan imaging system. 3D imaging is used in our office as a standard of care for implant and periodontal diagnostics, as well as an imaging source for doctors surrounding the region.

Sterilization and Patient Safety

Our offices use state of the art sterilization to ensure patient safety. Sterilization and disinfection are the basic steps in instrument processing and surface asepsis. Sterilization refers to the use of a physical or chemical procedure to destroy all forms of microorganisms, including the highly resistant spores. We use biological, chemical, and mechanical indicators to monitor our sterilization process and it not only meets but goes beyond the state of regulatory standards.

Laser Assisted Treatment

A new technology, laser assisted treatment, offers many benefits to patients undergoing care. Patients are amazed about how fast, easy and painless the procedure is. Most of the time no stitches are required, very little bleeding occurs and this speeds up recovery time.

There are several benefits to receiving a laser therapy dental treatment.

  • Many laser treatments do not require anesthesia, and the recovery time is much quicker than with traditional treatment methods.
  • Treatments are more comfortable.
  • Since lasers reduce inflammation, patients have little or no swelling.

There are two different types of laser dentistry: hard tissue and soft tissue. Hard tissue includes treatments such bone regeneration, and tooth sensitivity improvements. Soft tissue treatments include gum reshaping, gum surgery, and muscle attachment improvements.

Procedures such as removing benign oral tumors, regenerating nerves, overcoming sleep apnea, whitening teeth, and treating TMD are also considered laser dentistry treatments.
